Lots have been said ,written and professed on healthy food and healthy living .Still fried food , junk food is mushrooming around all street corners of the country.
Lets face it , we as Indians cannot avoid fried and junk food.But atleast we can regulate and manage it .Lets decide to START eating 60 % healthy and 40 % junk food and slowly increase it to 85 % healthy and 15 % junk .Atleast we deserve our 15 % OF FRIED & JUNK FOOD for being able to manage to consume the other 85%.

a decorated matki (pot of curd) waiting to be broken.by govindas(young men who break handi's).Actually the pot now a days pot contains the booty , the spills of which are shared between the group who breaks the handi.The booty may vary from Rs. 100 upto Rs.2,00,000 depending on the location of the handi and the groups sponsoring it.

Children and young adults who break the matki (pot of curd ) today are very organised lot.There are groups who train these govindas one to two weeks prior to the festival .They are trained to break matki's two to five storey's high.

Festivals of India - Gokulastami -celebrated to mark the birth of Lord Sri Krishna

The one thing I like about India are the festivals .They are the live wires of India , celebrated with lots of fun quoitent.
Today is Gokulastami ,celebrated to mark the birth of Lord Sri Krishna, this festival of Janmashtami is a popular event in India . Devotees of Lord Krishna solemnise the festival with lot of joy and enthusiasm. All efforts are made to give the festival an extremely decorative look.
Dahi Handi ritual is most popularly celebrated in Mumbai. This ritual of Dahi Handi is carried out with much fanfare and joy. Human pyramid is formed to break the Handi (Earthen Pot) suspended from top with the help of a rope. The exciting process involves throwing water by the onlookers to prevent the boys from breaking the earthen pot.

Its been 60 plus days since I started this blog.At that time I was not sure whether I will be able to do it -many thoughts lingered -whether will it be possible to dedicate my time daily to make this happen, whether there will be people who will watch it , whether this is a self indulgent exercise or whether i truely love photography enough to post daily .
For now few answers I have got and few still remain .Photography for me has been a path of self discovery of myself with my inner self and with this I have emerged as a better and observant person than before.
Thanks to all those visitors who have watched my site regularly and have also post their comments and by email.
I wish the comments were more , whether they are appreciate or critical.Critical comments if any according to me help correct me and bring the better of self.
I also thank all those photo blogs whom i have seen and followed and I have learned more by observing them than doing any formal course in Photography.

Of late the food habits of Indians are getting away from healthy habits and lifestyle diseases have started cropping in.The reason is our getting away from the healthy foods which should be consumed .
One way to do so is to keep healthy foods like fruits , nuts , raw vegies like carrots available and visible near you than the fried and junk foods .Easy visibility and availability tends people to consume / munch the saem in short hunger breaks.
So have a look at your home - what is accessible easily healthy or junk foods .

Open air photography - well needed for local photographers

There was an open air photography exhibition of one of pioneers of aerial photography -Yann Arthus Bertrand titled Earth From Above at end of 2009.

This exhibition was well seen by aam mumbaites.

We need to encourage even local photographers to showcase their photographs to the local population , something on the lines of road show of paintings by local painters outside Jehangir Art gallery.

I hope someone reading this suggests to Mumbai BMC to start something like this for aam photographer .

One of the popular ways to spend a weekend is to get away from the hustle and bustle of cities to nature and hill stations become a perfect gateway for a weekend.
Around Mumbai,India ,hill station "Matheran"takes the cake .
Most attractive feature about Matheran is that its declared as a vehicle free hill station , so when you are inside Matheran , you feel a complete connect with nature with no vehicles either obstructing you nor disturbing your peace.
The way to reach matheran by Toy train from its base station Neral is equally enjoyable.

Toys: meant to be broken... sounds absurd, isn't it?

I have observed that when families get expensive toys as gifts or they buy expensive toys for their children , the same goes inside the showcase to be potrayed for show.

Toys should always be bought and given to children , however expensive they are , they are to be played with and meant to be broken by children.

Let toys be in the hands of those who deserve - - - i.e. the children.

some like to sit at home and have mom's made pakodas** (mostly made of onions , green chilli , adhrak and potatoes ) and watch the rains from their home balcony.

**pakodas are indian snacks made of a mix of flour, onions, green chilli and potatoes and fried in boiling oil..Different vegetables can also be mixed to have different varieties of pakodas.Globally popular ones are the cheese pakodas.
